Mojo Report #3

Rektember before Uptober?

Mojo Report #1

Your weekly DeFi update. The good stuff, but not financial advice!

Here we go again… pump and dump!

Emotions on a rollercoaster. But let me tell you what, this was clear!

I’m always talking about liquidity, because it’s the crucial factor! Without new liquidity flowing in, pumps won’t be sustainable.

Check these metrics to identify liquidity inflows:

• TVL
• No. of txs
• Tx volume
• DEX volume
• Net bridge flow
• BTC dominance
• Stablecoin flows
• CEX volume/reserves
• Daily active users/addresses
• Google trends (comes pretty late, but still easy to check)

I look at these numbers almost every day to get a feeling for it. This also lets you filter out the noise from all the news. You can calm down and don’t do stupid stuff based on extreme emotions.

Be aware that you have to take the whole picture and single indicators can lead to a wrong conclusion.

September is historically a very bad month for crypto. If it’s going to be another one, we’d make seven red ones in a row.

I see a slow bleed the upcoming weeks. There’s just not enough interest in crypto and no new liquidity coming in.

But things can change quickly and no exposure at all can be a bad strategy. And I know for sure, people are going to wait for lower lows, but they won’t come and in the end they get left behind and have to fomo in… again.

October will be more interesting, because there’re a few BTC ETF deadlines for the SEC. Tbh I expect a delay as far as Gary can stretch it, even if it gets more dirty.

DeFi Updates

Mantle Journey launched, a huge incentives program. There will be several Seasons and the first runs from Aug. 29th to Sep. 12th.

You have to mint a soulbound token (MJSBT) to begin.

20m $MNT are for grabs and not only this, but a lot of projects also incentivize activity with their token.

The $MNT eco-system could perform well during Rektember, because of all the incentives. People are drawn to free money! So it might not be the worst move to bridge at least some funds to Mantle.

But you have to watch inflows. Base is the biggest competitor atm, it just has the better ponzinomics for now.

Not only MJ, but there’s also a discussion about a $238m liquidity injection, with a large number going to support RWAs.

RWA are going to be a big thing and if Mantle can position right in this sector… it’s party time!

Tangible and Pearl designed an interesting ve(3/3) DEX with real yield cashflow. If they can keep up those APYs, I see more funds flowing there.

As I said before, their disadvantage is only being on Polygon.

HMX goes mobile. This is the future!

Mobile will onboard more people than everything else before. Even this is just the beginning HMX gets the first mover advantage.

They also pull some nice stats and print some good money. You can’t complain about 23% in stables.

Project79 with the upcoming marketplace launch. A good place for crypto uncorrelated investments.

A 5% return for GSP (gold staking program) was announced for August.

Timeswap is a pretty cool protocol to generate cashflow.

Mantle:
~30% on ETH
~23% on USDT

Base:
~19% on USDC

And a few more interesting ones. Always good to have a look at Timeswap.

Macro

SEC gets a back alley beating!

First Ripple, now Grayscale. They won against the SEC, but this doesn’t mean there’ll be an ETF. It just means the SEC can’t use the same reasons to reject a conversion from the GBTC trust to a spot ETF.

There’s the question if Grayscale is even interested in such a conversion…

They would lose big money if they did, because of the fees they’re collecting with their trust.

The second beating comes from the court, which dismissed the case against Uniswap.

Judge Polk Failla even called ETH a commodity and the cool thing she’s overseeing the Coinbase case.
